Tally Ho Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into Tally Ho Restaurant is like stepping into a quietly steadfast corner of Hamilton’s culinary landscape. Situated along Main Street West, it offers a familiar rhythm and gentle hum that feels comfortably local and refreshingly unpretentious. The pace here is easy — a little brisk during the lunch rush, yet always calm enough for a moment to soak in the vintage charm and honest atmosphere of a family-run spot still holding tight to its roots.
There’s a certain warmth in the air, not just from the kitchen but from the people who run it and the steady flow of regulars stopping by for their favorite comfort meal. Though the place wears its age with earnest modesty, the well-loved facade and unpolished interiors quietly remind visitors that this is a cherished spot where tradition and familiarity rule. It’s precisely the sorts of places that nurture those unspoken bonds between community and food.
The menu feels like a snapshot of classic fast-food done right, favoring hearty simplicity over flash. The roast beef sandwiches here carry a reputation with good reason — thoughtfully prepared and never messy, they strike a balance between robust flavor and straightforward satisfaction. Fries paired with gravy, onion rings with their crisp edges, or the chicken sandwich’s crispy, juicy bite all conjure a sense of comfort food that never tries to be anything other than what it is: real, satisfying fare that hits the spot day after day.
What truly stands out at Tally Ho is the intangible, human layer beneath the meal itself. Friendly greetings at the counter, quick service from familiar faces, and a willingness to go that extra mile for someone in a moment of need frame the experience as one of genuine kindness and community care. These are the details that linger — a reminder that places like Tally Ho aren’t just lunch stops, but small anchors in the neighborhood fabric.
Whether you're new to Hamilton or a local craving a no-fuss meal with plenty of heart, Tally Ho offers a pause in the day that feels quietly grounding. It’s a reminder that sometimes, comfort lives in the well-worn booths, the simple sandwiches, and the people who keep traditions alive, plate by plate.

A classic roast beef sandwich shop that hasn’t changed a bit since the 80s. Delicious hearty and simple food prepared very quickly. Family run, independent fast food restaurants like this basically do not exist anymore and Tally Ho Is a Gem of a bygone era that needs to be protected at all costs.

Tonight i was coming home from work and was hungry, so I stopped off at tally ho. As i was about to pay for my order i discovered my bank card was missing. I went to cancel the order and the lady(Trish) was so kind and still made me an order of beef basket. She told me just to pay next day. It was so nice appreciated. The food was so good. Top notch. Thank you. P. S. I found my bank card at home in my other pants.

The restaurant is definitely old and could use some love as it looks worn down but the sandwiches were delicious. The roast beef had so much flavour and not sloppy at all. The chicken sandwich was perfectly fried and juicy. The gravy is a must! Make sure u order some with the fries. Definitely a must try if you are in the mood for some comfort food. Super friendly staff and large parking

A classic in Hamilton. Yummy, but not as flavourful as I remember. Friendly staff, good sandwiches at a reasonable price, will drop by again.

The best roast beef sandwich in Hamilton. Family owned business with the greatest service…

now THIS is fast food!! Wait 5 minutes for a mediocre overpriced burger with a tiny patty? I was in and out here in under 30 seconds, with a glorious $8 sandwich. I’ll be back!

Went here over a week ago. This was my mom's favorite place she always raved about it! So my friend and I were passing by one day and decided to go and try it out! The beef sandwiches are awesome and topped with gravy that's delicious. The place has a nice old school vibe to it which makes it an original. The fries were nice and crispy. I'd definitely come back and try out some other items on the menu.
